Another GREAT crowd aboard the Cock Robin!!  A little more elbow

room than Saturday which was good because BIG MAN JoeLongo

was aboard for the catching!!  Two fish limit for Joe and enough

BLUES to fill two fillet bags!!

Buddies Joe and Frank were putting in their 3rd rail day in 5 days

aboard and were again rewarded with BASS!

The men of Spatafore were in their usual starboard port space

and young Arties report started us off.

Local legend Joe Camarata made an in person appearance and

showed the boys aboard how to manage the stern.

Long-time Cock Robin supporters Louie, Dan and Rick made the

trek fom Collegeville, Pa and were rewarded on the starboard bow.

Making the yearly pilgrimage from Westchester, NY, closet soccer

dad Mr Healy braved the trip with birthday boy and son Jerry

and his posse of Paul, brother Shane, Kevin and super angler

Austin!  This 6 pack of anglers created their own entertainment

working the port side with highlights of Austins 40+" BASS and

fish skin hats all around!!

Winning Sundays pool was Nate SKEETER Holley a Cock Robin

FaceBook Fan with his own 40+" BASS!! Oh Nate also caught his

FIRST BASS EVER on the trip, than proceded to take home a

LIMIT PLUS BONUS TAG, PLUS THE POOL.  It's good to be

NATE!

The day ended back at the dock where we filleted for another

hour!

An excellent Sunday to Sunday week aboard the Cock Robin!!

WE WILL SAIL SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15!!

Captain Jim continued to work the southern fishing grounds for

stripers and MONGO blues.

An allstar cast of anglers were aboard including Ken Hauser, Dave

Lewis, Captain Phil, Joe McKeone, John Jannelli, Contractor Mic,

Canoli Mike (nope, I don't know the story behind that one) and

more.

Before we could get our slickers on, Captain Jim jumped some

working birds and bluefish of all sizes were thumping the decks.

Matt Ruggie started us off with BASS, putting a 29" in da box

before 8:30a which prompted a remote facebook comment. NICE

Chandra Emerich, fishing with boyfriend Dave Gonzalez and buddy

Max Hellstern jigged up a 36" bass, yup THREE FEET OF BASS!!!

We were in the catching mode until 12:30p or so when the Lake

Atlantic we were on went even FLATTER and we totally lost the

drift conditions and fishing became, well...fishing.

Check out the picture of Carl Burkart's 1/2 fluke.....Dangerous

down there!!

And CONGRATULATIONS to longtime Cock Robin regular Shady

Atallador who DID NOT get seasick!!!

Another bang up day on mongo blues gorging themselves on anything

and everything!!

Short bass now appearing and taking the jig, with the BIG BASS

hanging on the bottom.

Wednesday and Thursday looking a little dicey with the weather so

tomorrow and Friday are the days!!

Tomorrow is looking REALLY, REALLY good with west winds!

BLUES- BASS- BLUES

Heavy boat traffic on Saturday had Captain Jim seeking

opportunities away from the fleets.  Fishing locally produced

bluefish but we were hunting stripers.  Acting on intel to the far

south, Captain Jim plotted the course and away we went!  Once

we got on the scene the bass that had appeared disappeared just

as quickly!  A move back to the north put the fisherman on the

bass and blues despite continued heavy trolling and fleet

pressure.

Sunday dawned bright and WARM and the Father and Son Trip

Part 2 was on!  The Horning boys flanked dad, Art Jr and Sr

Spatafore were back (nice bass Artie JR!, see the gallery),

Valerie Morris (yes we know she is not a son, but she fishes like

a boy!!) introduced the new boyfriend to father Robert...smart

move, Neil and Jorden Thomas owned the port bow and kept the

crew filleting after the trip!, the Motchinik men were in their

usual mid ship, port side position, Joe and Tim Dorenwerl  joined

us, and rounding out the Father and Son teams was Tim and

Stephen LaPella....um Stephen...8 to 5?!  C'mon!

South we went to the grounds before the fleet could form up and

were met by MONGO blues.  Deck filled with flopping 8-12lb

pounders!!  A few moves proved the first of the days bass and

continued gorging bluefish.  Every drift provided plenty of action

with the pool bass going 31"!  Pablo Valazquezcame out from the

night and kept his five requested fish all the while putting on a

"...this is how you do it clinic..", Sunday regulars Angel

Hernandez and Christian Amagante filled the bluefish orders they

were given and Al Savary and fishing buddy Terry Breidinger

improved their score from their previous trip.  Oh and Robert

Yenser WON the pool!

BLUES- BASS- BLUES

Despite the weathermans gale warning, a great group of anglers

braved the deep to hunt bass!! Shockingly, no one lost their hat in

the gale....

EXCELLENT day on the water for the Cock Robin with the first

omen being bait pinned inside the north side of the jetty. That

drift provided us with only bluefish but gave us great hope for

the day.

Pushing south Capt Jim did the "...See the birds, Read the fish,

Pray we drift right..." game and we had a steady pick of various

bluefish models.

It turned out that it was Father and Son Day aboard the Cock

Robin with family combos of KHarps and Big Dawg DHarps

(stripers and blues), locals Mark and John Kizmann (stripers and

blues), Cock Robin regulars John and Frankie (1st keeper)

Entwistle and family friends as well as Cock Robin regulars Steve

and Pete Saeridies (blues) and Gilberto Sr and Jr Comayagua

(blues) all joined in the catching.

Using his XRay vision, Capt Jim spotted working gannets WAY,

WAY south and put the hammer down and put the anglers on DA

BASS!! Uber angler and provider of the best hot dogs I have

ever eaten in 30 knot winds, Jim McCarthy started us of with

the striped ones. There is still ongoing controversy as to a

missed bass at the boat that apparently EVERYONE witnessed

EXCEPT the guy with the net.....I still think there were hot dog

bribes on this deal...

The Wisnofsky boys did managed a good catch of blues and a

few short stripers working the port side all day.

Returning Cock Robin friend Sharif Fahmy brought along a buddy

and put some blues aboard.....Sharif that bass is waiting on

YOU!!! Contractor Mic, we have a BASS emergency!

BLUES- bass- BLUES

Beautiful day on the water and Captain Jim headed south to the Island Beach State Park grounds looking for the action. Unfortunately the bass and blues had another agenda today

We did manage a short and a lost 15lb BASS at the boat as well as a decent scratch of blues.

Fishergals Aubrie and Maura Weymiller from Franklinville enjoyed the day from school and showed dad how it was done and I suspect there will be a few "fish" stories around that dinner table tonight.....

Continued westerly winds will keep the seas calm and the BASS more and more plentiful.

School is out for the next two days, so take the opportunity to take a kid fishing and join us!

We are keeping the bass sign up because we KNOW they're

Plenty of BLUEFISH, no bass for us and a bonus TUNA

HUNT!

Captain Jim found some Bluefin Tuna having brunch within sight of

home base. Everyone tried to jig one up but they were too

smart, following the jig to the boat and giving the fisherman a

quick, "SEE yA"

Spotty reports of bass in our waters, however the NY action has

heated up and we are expecting ours to show up any time now.

No bass for us today......but plenty of bluefish for all!!

Father and son tag teams of Andrew and Jason and Artie and Artie commanded bow and stern with young Artie sweating out the pool with a last contender caught at the horn by Team Angel's captain Angel, himself! Great job Artie!!

Angel once again produced another greenhorn, Pedro who crushed blues to 10lbs on a yellow tailed 47 all day long as if he had been fishing for 25 years!

Weather looks good for the week and the reports of more bass to the north should find their way to us this week.

BLUES- BASS- BLUES

We were greeted this morning to:
6 COMPLETELY FILLED SHOPPING BAGS!!
of canned goods for the St Gregorys Pantry donation program.

THANK YOU TO WHOMEVER YOU ARE!

FINALLY we made it out!!!

We were met with the usual unorganized bird life typical of this time of year. Read fish and bait, set the drift....NOBODY HOME...if this were trick or treating we were definitely getting the TRICK!!

Played this game on a few more readings/ bird action with limited success on mini model blues before heading to the north.

Better pick of blues began to show for Longtime Cock Robin friends Budd Brandon and Tom Morello, as well as for Don Henkel and Horst Lueke.

Then....Contractor Mic announced he had a BASS on and promptly guided a 30" model to the awaiting net!!

Young Hasan Intisar treated his friends Frank DellaPorta and Paul Miller to a day of jigging and managed a respectful catch.

Cock Robin greenhorn Sherif,  brought his new BOGAN rod along and broke it and his new reels in with a handful of blues to 6lbs. Welcome Sherif!

Not the bassing day we had hoped for but good enough to get the jigging juices flowing and wanting MORE!

Welp, while we fixed the transmission issue and now

wait out this storm, we did manage to update the

webpage a bit and added a feature that allows you to

translate the webpage into MANY languages.  Simply

click the "Translate this Page" button on the top right of

any page of the website and select the language desired.

Please help us promote this great new feature.

Saturday looks like a wash-out, Stay Home!

Sunday may have promise as this storm appears to be

moving along quickly.  We will be down to the dock

ready for action.

Monday and the week ahead look good and unconfirmed

intel has a mass of BASS to the north....

October 13, 2009

Fishing over the weekend was GREAT!!

Catching over the weekend was SLOW, but most put a catch

together.  Fish mainly taking the jig, however those working bait

in the chum slick were rewarded.

Thanks to your generous donations, we are off to a GREAT start

in aiding the efforts of the St Gregory's Pantry canned goods

and non perishable program for those local families in need.

We will be dropping off the first of what we expect will be many

donations this week.

October 4, 2009

Issue's beyond our control will keep us tied to the dock until

Tuesday, October 6, 2009.

We appreciate your patience and we will be back at it on

Tuesday!

September 30, 2009

Welp, with MUCH anticipation we set sail into the WINDY blue

yonder this morning looking for Fat Albert and Da Bonz.

Yesterdays less than stellar albie reports had us rethinking our

career choices....

Despite our best efforts of playing hide and seek, Sir Albert won

todays game as we could only muster a dozen or so albies and

one lone bone.

Those that sailed with us today did a great job of jigging and

drifting baits, we just couldnt get the fish to respond to our best

efforts

We are down for the next two days making a repair and will be

lit up on Saturday morning to have at it again!

September 24, 2009

BLUEFISH- ALBIES- BLUEFISH

Tuesday had us heading north and east to find the BIG BLUES

again.  Majority of fish were caught on bait with those working

jigs being rewarded as well.

Wednesday's SIR ALBERT and Da BONZ EXPRESS TOUR was a

GREAT SUCCESS, with the ALBIES taking center stage and a

brief appearance of Da BONZ keeping everyone working for more!

Weather looks good and the fish appear to be satisfied to stay

put, so

COME ON DOWN and LETS GO FISHING!

BLUEFISH- ALBIES

Fishing remains GOOD, although Sunday was BAD

Friday saw Sal Pignatano from Brooklyn, NY return to defend his

past Friday pool winning status and triumphed AGAIN. (ehhh,

SHRIMPMAN, what happened to you?!)

Saturday had a good number of NJFishing.com members aboard

and a slow start led to a better finish, best discribed as a slow

pick.

Sunday had us traveling offshore in search of bigger fish.  NO

current and lake like conditions hampered our best efforts and

off we went in search of better conditions...and fish.

Unfortunately we were met with a SCREAMING tide change that

had the chum slick moving like rapids in a waterwater river!  It

was a beautiful day for a boat ride though....

Light crowd on Monday caught em up on the jig and the weather

is looking great through the weekend.

TOMORROW is:

BLUEFISH- ALBIES

Had to take down one BLUEFISH today as conditions were just tough...

with yesterdays smorsgaborg (is that spelled correctly?!) of

BLUEFISH, WEAKFISH, ALBIES and SPANISH MACKERAL we

left today with HIGH HOPES!

Unfortunately the weather gods pushed the winds and seas a wee

bit earlier than we would have liked.....

Those that were able to manage their jigs at the rail were

treated to Blues and Albies, however conditions just weren't

working in the fishermans favor today.

We sailed light today and pushed the envelope, just couldnt put

together a meaningful catch for all..

Holiday and storms have passed and now its time for the fall

fishing to begin!!

Ironically enough, the bluefish have begun GORGING themselves

on sand eels. BIG, MEAN BREAK YOUR TACKLE JIG FISH, with

classic birds screaming overhead were had late Saturday and

all-day Sunday.

Conditions are GOOD, fish are BIG and

weather is CLEAR....

Labor Day Weekend 2009 is over and the Crew of the Cock Robin THANKS EVERYONE who came out to fish with us!!

Seas were not always favorable however those that put their time on the rail were treated to GOOD to EPIC catches.

MANY old friends joined us and new friends were made aboard the Cock Robin over the weekend and we had as much fun with you all as we hope you had with us!!

Fall fishing is upon us and we are watching the albies and bones carefully, as well as the bluefin tuna, willing them to come within 30miles of home base so we can put some trips together.

It wont be long before we have reports of the striped ones mixing it below the blues and we are ready to go STRIPER HUNTING!!!

WE HAD ALL WE COULD HANDLE BY THEN!!!

EPIC

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

Tropical Storms, Hurricanes what else can the Weather Channel throw at us to try and discourage folks from enjoying the SUPER EXCELLENT BLUEFISHING we have going on now?!!

Saturday morning had us nervous not for the weather but for participation! At 6:45a we are at the "this sucks, we want to go fishing" stage as we had less than a dozen folks taking the "risk" (Jim Cantore, when will you finally retire?!). With Capt Jim working the fleets 411 system we found virtually everyone else in the same position and it was deemed the COCK ROBIN WOULD SAIL!!!

With 30+ people we were off in the reported 10ft+ seas that were no more than a chop and couldnt muster enough height to cause spray over the bow!!

Arriving on the fishing grounds we doubled checked our positioning because WE WERE ALL ALONE in what is normally a parking lot at Xmas at your local mall!

We rang the door bell and invited ourselves to a comfortable anchorage and before we came tight those rigged with jigs were already HOOKED UP!

Oh, rain you ask, nope although we left in a shower, it didnt rain during the trip, (are you getting ALL THE FACTS Jim Cantore?!). Wait, sorry I lied, it rained for 10 minutes on our way home,

Bait or jig, it was a SUPER GREAT DAY of CATCHING.

Thank you all who BRAVED the non elements to join us on such a memorable trip.

SUNDAY-
Day 2 of the "Weekend Washout", dawned bright and sunny and with 20 some anxious folks we broke the inlet in calm, nicely timed swells that made for a nice boat ride to the fishing grounds.
With a few more "hardy" soles braving the various elements, we arrived at the grounds and dropped the hook and with a Capt Jim twist on our usual anchor system we had ......well, i well share this email from longtime Cock Robin angler, Michael from Saddlebrook, NJ describing Sundays action...

"...After Thursdays "Can't get better than this" trip, I need to redefine the way we measure a great day of bluefishing.
Capt. Jim again made the 15 mile journey north to where the bluefish have been hanging for the past few weeks. Twenty or so on the Cock Robin made for comfortable conditions with almost perfect weather, and with such a long time between swells the ocean seemed calm. We had the first fish within a minute and the action didn't stop until we pulled up anchor. After fighting 30 fish, I actually stopped fishing for about an hour. I think everyone aboard had as many as they wanted.
One of the Cock Robin's regulars, Angel, hooked a sea bass and before he could get it into the boat, it was bit in half by a bluefish. That's how savage these fish were.
Thanks to Capt. Jim, again, and to mates Johnny and Bill who earned their way today.

Michael..."

and MORE
BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH
Thursdays trip was again classified as "EPIC"!!
With being FISH DONATION DAY for the Valentine House, the Cock Robin fisherpeople donated the 27 fish needed by 10:15am!!!

Ya gotta be aboard to catch 'em, so come on down!!

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

and MORE
BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH
Wednesday's fishing was "EPIC" and we expect the fishing to remain GREAT!!
We love getting email from you, GOOD or Bad.  We read it, share it with the crew and learn from every communication we get.
Today we received from LONG, LONG- TIME Cock Robin fisherkid/man, Jim Chapman this encouraging memory of his trip from Friday (you know, the day Hurricane Bill crippled the East Coast...).  we can only aspire to live up to his praise.
Click HERE for a picture of Jim, his wife Monika and buddy Julian along with Cock Robin mate great, Doug Wilson.

"...Hi Captain and Crew.

This is Jim Chapman out of Philly. We were on your boat this past Friday. My wife Monika and my good buddy Julian came along. Monika had never caught a Bluefish before, and Julian had never been fishing before… I wanted them to have a good experience and they did! You and your crew continue to provide a 5-Star experience. Monika caught more fish than I did! You, along with Doug, Paul, Eric and John were incredible. You guys coached Monika and Julian and they listened to you guys and landed big fish! Thanks! I manage restaurants in Philly and you guys understand customer service better than my staff do. I wish that I could bring my WHOLE team (servers, bartenders, cooks, etc.), down for a trip, so that they can see the REAL meaning of Hospitality and Tourism! You guys are still the finest boat and crew in the fleet. I still have a smile on my face. I truly think that you guys are Wizards! One of the reasons I say that is because on one instance, I broke my line and Doug told me that I still had a fish on it. He not only managed to hold the line with one hand, but he RE-TIED the line to my line and I landed the fish! Holy Cow! We will be back soon. Many thanks!

Jim Chapman, Philadelphia, PA...."

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

Tuesdays report comes from Cock Robin regular, Joe Longo:
"...Sailed with a light crowd today, I would say maybe 15, thanks Capt Jim, it was well worth it. Headed to the north to join the rest of the fleet. Fishing ranged from a steady pick to "stupid" fishing at times. A couple people were jigging with most using bait, including myself. I really couldnt say how many I caught, it was alot. Kept my limit of 15, with a nice seabass thrown in. Couldnt ask for better weather or a better trip. It defintely made up for my last two trips. From what I saw, everyone left with some fillets. Johnny and Erick were great, stayed on one spot all day. Hope to get out there again soon...."

THANKS JOE!!!

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

Monday the Cock Robin faithful returned and off we went loaded for

bear sized BLUES....

A surprise jump on a pile of fish close to home and tight to the beach

had us stopped. Shallow water created a challenge for catching so we

continued the hunt.

Back to the scene of the weekend crime and we were ready once again.

SLOW current had the fish sluggish and a bit disinterested but

bluefish being bluefish, they changed their minds and the catching

began!

Michael Moll, Easton, PA took the pool with a 14lb gator that joined 8

others in his cooler.

Joe Julian made his first trip for blues and was rewarded with fish to

10lbs.

Local 8 yr old beauty Chris Martinelli-Doyle, made her first voyage of

the year and delighted the crowd by catching the the first fish of the

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

Todays report comes courtesy of long-time Cock Robin fisherman,
Jim (emcjim):

Rough, rolly ride from Manasquan Inlet to the Shrewsbury Rocks in a

quartering wind, NE 10 to 15. OK once we came back on the anchor.

Stayed in 1 spot for the entire trip. Fairly steady action on bait (bunker

chunks). I landed 13 bluefish, keeping 5. 6-to-8 pounders at the start,

2-to-4 pounders at the finish. Tried a Gator spoon w/o a hit. Kudos to

Capt. Jim for sailing w/ 16 fares and taking 2 mates. Once the boat was

anchored, Jim slung the chum, and chunks, from the bow, and the 2

mates gaffed, unhooked fish, and cleared line tangles. Top-notch service.

THANKS JIM!!!

since Jim did todays report, i spent my reporting time uploading

pictures, LOTS of pictures!!

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

TUESDAY:
headed right back to Mondays SUPER EXCELLENT
offshore spot thinking we would continue with our good fortunes.....

NOT!

the fish swam away without a forwarding address....

Not to worry with Captain Howard Bogan on patrol with the Big Jamaica!!

Captain Howard had found the fish and was his usual generous self and

gave us the 411.  Off we went back inshore and with Captain Howard

giving direction, placed us:

ON TOP OF THE FISH...GAME ON!!

The pool was taken by a big 14 pound blue caught by Joey Pinzka from Perkasie, Pa, along with 10 more whoppers to 12 pounds!

CAMP COCK ROBIN regular Justin was again on board and limited out with 15 whoppers!
(school starts in 3 weeks, if you're 8-15yrs old, you really should take advantage of this program!!)

Dr. Joe and Capt. Phil made it again on a Tuesday and both put at least 10 monsters into the box!!

Another super day with plenty of action and big fish all around.

Wednesday

SUPER EXCELLENT CATCHING AGAIN

Jumped on fish just outside the inlet and had some anglers aboard

knocking a little rust off their angling skills.....fortunately the bite

lasted long enough and everyone joined the action.  took the ride north to

the fishing grounds and beat up on some more fish!

August 5, 2009 Report

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

Yup, they were back yesterday with a vengeance!!

SUPER GREAT CATCHING!!!

Wednesday was back to what summertime BLUEFISHING is all about.

Bags full, coolers full, totes full, bait cooler full, decks covered in blood!!!

Sailing FRIDAY and SATURDAY NIGHTS, too!

August 2, 2009 Report

Friday- DAY- SUPER Large BLUES!

BIG/ HUNGRY FISH was the name of the game on Friday. Brian Hazen- 14yrs, Glen Sprey, NY and dad, Gary enjoyed the day along with Tim LaPella, Pheonixville, PA who had a limit to 16lbs. Tedra and Krista Hemming each caught their very first bluefish, showing Mom and Dad how it was done.

Friday- NIGHT- Captain Jim made the decision not to sail with the incoming weather front

Saturday- DAY- not exactly a repeat of Friday, but a good day of catching. Again Big Blues on jig.

Saturday- NIGHT- fish had their fill during the day and decided that they were not going to have dessert. Not a good catching trip.

Sunday- DAY- a little slow, but with decent shots at BIG BLUES on bait.

With a good long range weather forecast we are expecting an increase in the fishing as the blues find their summer residences, unpack their bags and find the best places to eat.

July 30, 2009 Report

Wednesdays report can be summed up by Capt Jim's one word response to my text to him, ".....how was today?.."

Going to stop with a two BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH rating.

BIG BLUES have returned!!

Ken Houser won the pool with a legit 16lb GATOR!

North is where the action seems to be, a nice change of pace from heading east!!

Light crowd and calm seas made the day as comfortable as it gets.

If you've been lurking, waiting for better conditions, make the plan to come on down.

Don't forget CAMP COCK ROBIN is available
EVERY weekday.
 Designed for fisherkids, 8-15yrs old,

SLOW.....but IMPROVING

Friday- DAY- slow with small fish

Friday- NIGHT- lack of participation left us tied to the
dock (maybe a blessing...)

Saturday- DAY- slow again despite looking EVERYWHERE! Highlight of the trip was Tyler Robbins, 14yrs from Abbington, PA bring an 8' thresher shark to the boat before we cut the leader.

Saturday- NIGHT- FINALLY saw fish on the decks!!! Bite lasted until 11:30p when we guess some sort of bluefish curfew was put into place. Mostly nice BIG BLUES

Sunday- DAY- BIG fish again!!!! Bite lasted until 12:30p. All on bait. Hopefully the fish have returned!

Wednesday is MARATHON WEDNESDAY- 6a- 2:30p!! Set your alarm clock!! Too many of you are "yelling" at us when we return to the dock that you missed the boat!

Thursday- FISH DONATION DAY benefiting the Joan Valentine House, Point Pleasant, NJ

Todays report comes courtesy of longtime Cock Robin friend, Tom Byrne.
I took the liberty of copying Tom's report on NJFishing.com to share with you all.

We encourage you to become members on both NJFishing.com and NJSaltwaterfisherman.com and post along with us the GOOD and...., well...bad (if that should ever happen)

Both of these forums are a tremendous asset to the fishing community and Captain Jim proudly sponsors both.

and now here is Tom's report from today (Thursday)

Sailed with Jim today. Steady pick of blues, scrappy and slight but mixed in with Bones, my crew put 4 Bonito in the boat and dragged plenty of Blues through the water.

Pictures of the BONEZ are up on CockRobin.com as well as some GREAT new videos!!  Use the toolbar above to jump to the PHOTO GALLERY and VIDEO GALLERY!

BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH- BLUEFISH

Marathon Wednesday had a late start until we could fill the roster than off we went....

east to the fishing grounds and the fish goddess (hey, it's our report) put us smack in the thick of it!!

BIG BLUES ALL DAY!!!

Oh, then John Smith from Philly decided that he needed somethin a lil LARGER...

HOW 'BOUT A 28LB POLLACK!!! NICE!

Fish Donation Thursday is a tale of another sort......

Overnight the winds switched from the dreaded south and the ocean had a nice chop to her....

East you say, east we went and the fish were home and their feed bags were on........sort of.

An hour into GOOD fishing, the big shut down happened and the fish finder began playing re-runs of fish under the boat, but NO fish eating....

A slow pick was the result of the day, with BIG fish taking bait and jig.

Of course the Cock Robin faithful did meet our quota for the Valentine House Fish Donation!!! THANKS ALL!!

Pool winner today, 10yr old Jacob Gardner with a 15LB SLAMMER!!!

OH, for those of you planning on coming this weekend, BRING THE CAMERAS!!

NO EXTRA COST FOR THE WHALES WE ARE SEEING!!

Another GREAT day of CATCHING!!

13- 16 miles from home base have become the prime BLUEFISH grounds!

JIGS and BIG BLUES are all ya gotta know!!

1st time angler Terry James, Elmwood Park, NJ showed how "easy" it is landing 10 whoppers including the pool

winning 18lb GINORMUS 'GATOR!!

10 year old Austin Bogushi, Waymort, PA made memories for dad by landing 2 slammers before dad had a bite!

(YO, Austin....Camp Cock Robin is running daily for kids just like you!! Click 2009 Stimulus Plan above for info)

Continued fair weather and calm seas should keep this mass of MONGO BLUES where they are
and rods bent and reels broken!

Come on down and get in on the action

THATS RIGHT!!! We have turned BACK ON the BLUEFISH sign!!

Continued improvement- getting close the the "stupid" fishing of 3 weeks ago.

Left the fish biting.

Jig- Jig- Jig
(and anything else ya got that moves until it stops when chomped on!)

Don Henkel, Long Valley- todays pool winner!!! Rumor has it, the fish had a mind to EAT DON!!

THANK YOU ALL WHO DONATED FISH TO THE JOAN VALENTINE HOUSE!!

(every Thursday is Fish Donation Day benefiting the Joan Valentine House, Point Pleasant)

Weekend looks great for weather and CATCHING!!!

SAILING FRIDAY and SATURDAY NIGHTS!!!!!
(as well as EVERY day!)

July 8, 2009 Report

Jesse Fesseisa, mate on the Sea Hawk fished with us today and held an absolute clinic on how to fish with jigs! Good Job Jesse!

Philadelphia Fire Department members of Engine 35 and Ladder 25 were aboard today as well for their annual trip. If youre on fire in Philly, these are the guys you want saving you!!

Denise Clark and Anna Lisa Nazario joined the firemen and paramedics and combined to fill bags of blues!!! Anyone have a recipe for bluefish firehouse chili!

John Iannecci of Flemington owned the port side stern and made easy work of a limit of blues including a GATOR of a pool winner!!

Weather looks good and fish seem to be on the prowl again. Jigs outfished bait, but who knows?! We are always prepared for whatever the conditions are....Get on down and enjoy the calm seas and good to great fishing!

July 6, 2009 Report

Have i mentioned the "...one good day, one....not so good..." theory?!

After a slow Sunday, we licked our wounds and headed back east with a light crowd for the first Monday, July trip.

The fish decided to EAT again!!! Not a consistent bite, but good enough action that at the end of the day you knew you went fishing on the Cock Robin!

Long drifts, big fish, all on jigs. Some bonus surface action to keep you motivated!

Megan Riley, Jupiter, Fla caught 'em up, Dave Scott from Allegany, NJ won the pool with a 15lb GATOR. The Bassett family, PA combined for 25+ fish!

Long-time Cock Robin friend Al Downing, Egg Harbor, NJ did his thing keeping 1/2 a dozen and returning that plus to swim again! Nice job on the c/r Al.

Amanda Triscott, Allentown PA filled her cooler!

July 5, 2009 Report

One day good, next day.....not so good....

We have been heading to the east and finding fish.....only issue at times is the fish don't wanna eat!

Friday, July 3 DAY- not a good catching trip. Drifted over pockets of fish but catching was poor. Certainly not from a lack of effort.

Friday, July 3 NIGHT- still no improvement from the day trip.

Saturday, July 4 DAY- FINALLY improvement but not bang up. Everyone caught but the fish were not in an aggressive mode, every hook up was lip hooked and we had plenty of fish spit the jig at the boat. BEAUTIFUL day on the water

Sunday, July 5 DAY- again the fish went into lockdown. Plenty of quality readings but the fish just wouldn't commit.

Fish are here and the fishery will bust wide open as the Blues finish the spawn. Weather window looking good, so come on down and be the first at it!

July 2, 2009 Report

Had to take the BLUEFISH BLUEFISH BLUEFISH banner down.

Thursday lacked the catching in fishing.

PLENTY of bait readings and fish readings as well as fish jumping OUT of the water, but hook-ups were few.

Fish followed jigs to the boat and RAN INTO THE BOAT, but weren't biting.

Weather is GREAT through the weekend, lets get 'em going!!

NO SATURDAY, JULY 4 NIGHT TRIP!

Captain Jim had a nice crowd of Monday anglers playing hookey from the office today.

Instead of heading north, Captain Jim headed east for the days activities.

Drifting and anchoring both provided action for those aboard with a few limiting out and all aboard catching. Bait and jig were the order of the day.

"Turtle" from Passaic, NJ proved to be the pool winner with a MONSTER 14lb blue.

June 6/7, 2009 Weekend Recap

Weather had us tied to the dock like most others Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Saturday, June 6 dawned and Captain Jim sniffed the air clearing the inlet and headed towards the sun and beyond....

Greg Aument, Linford, Pa took the pool for the 2nd Saturday in a row with a 13lb 'gator. Greg and a few others had up to 12 fish each, with everyone joining in the catching.

Saturday NIGHT the Cock Robin returned to the eastern grounds with a great group of night anglers and had GAME ON before the boat came tight to the hook!!! Multiple limits of 6-12lbs blues were had by all. A few anglers in the stern, switched from bait to jigs had multiple hits on the way down and up!

Sunday, June 7 found Captain Jim heading north and a bit east. While the bluefish lacked in cooperation, multiple pollock catches and a pool winning 10lbs cod were boated! Way to go Michael Korik of Westwood, NJ!

Ya never know....

Wednesday June 10, 2009 is our first MARATHON WEDNESDAY, sail 6am- 2:30p, NO EXTRA COST!!

Thursday June 11, 2009 continues FISH DONATION DAY benefiting the Joan Valentine House, Point Pleasant, NJ. 7:30a- 2:30p

June 1 and 2, 2009
BLUEFISH in all shapes and sizes continue to dominate the scene whether we head north, south or east!!
We are still VERY optimistic that the STRIPERS will reappear at any moment!!
Richard Hey from Parsippany, NJ took the pool today and a pair of Brick gals, Chrissy and Brittany provided great entertainment as they caught 'em up as well.

5/28/2009-
After a 3 day nor'easter down here we are itchin to continue the success we had on Memorial Day Monday, 2009. (well, maybe a little closer to home!)
Water temps are moving up nicely (55+), bait is balling up and intel from the south has LARGE schools of BLUEFISH within range of home!

Locally the BUNKER have arrived and we are looking forward to getting on the BASS!
